Once the baby is born, everyone asks about the newborn — feeding, sleeping, nappies. But what about the mother?
At Maternite Hospital, we see it all the time — a new mom, sitting quietly, uncomfortable, unsure whether what she’s feeling is “normal.” “Doctor, niche dard ho raha hai, chalne mein problem ho rahi hai… bleeding bhi ruk nahi raha.”
These are real concerns. And you deserve real answers. So here’s a simple, honest guide to postpartum healing — the kind of support we wish every mother had.
If you had a vaginal birth with an episiotomy (cut) or tear, you’ll have stitches. The area will feel sore for at least 7–10 days. Sitting, walking, or even coughing can feel uncomfortable.
Pain gradually eases, and the stitches dissolve on their own.
If you had a caesarean delivery, you’ll need extra rest. The cut takes time to heal — usually 4–6 weeks. You’ll feel pain while sitting up, coughing, or lifting anything heavy.
At Maternite, our nurses show each new mom how to care for her stitches — no guesswork, no Google.
After delivery, you’ll bleed like a heavy period — this is normal and can last for 2–6 weeks. It starts red, then turns brown, and eventually becomes light yellow or white.
Let your maternity doctor in Jaipur know immediately in these cases.
Your body will feel tired, sore, and stretched. Some women feel back pain, others complain of tailbone pain. Constipation is common. So is gas.
Tears, mood swings, irritation — all are normal after childbirth. You’ve gone through a huge physical and emotional shift. Rest. Talk to your partner. And if the sadness doesn’t ease after 10–15 days, speak to your doctor.
At Maternite, we also offer access to a female psychiatrist in Jaipur for women facing postpartum depression or anxiety. No shame. Only care.
Once the baby is born, care for the mother shouldn’t stop. That’s why we follow up with all new mothers even after discharge — to make sure healing is happening properly.
We’re not just a maternity doctor in Jaipur. We’re your after-delivery support too.
