If you're pregnant in Rajasthan, summer isn't just about sweating — it’s about feeling like you're carrying a heater inside your body.

At Maternite Hospital, we meet expecting moms who walk into checkups saying,
"Doctor, garmi se to jaan nikal rahi hai… saans bhi nahi le pa rahe!" And they’re not exaggerating.
With desert temperatures crossing 40°C–45°C, pregnancy can feel 10 times harder.

But with a few mindful changes, you can stay cool, hydrated, and healthy — even through the worst of the summer heat.

Hydration is Your Best Friend

  • Drink at least 3–4 liters of water daily — even more if you're sweating a lot
  • Add natural coolers like coconut water, chaach, or nimbu pani
  • Avoid cold drinks loaded with sugar — they dehydrate you faster
  • Keep a copper bottle or a flask with you always

Signs of dehydration:

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Dark yellow urine
  • Dry lips or mouth

If you notice these, call your maternity doctor in Jaipur immediately.

 Eat Light, Eat Local

In extreme heat, your digestion slows down — so eat food your body already knows.

Go for:

  • Lauki, tinda, torai, and parwal sabzis
  • Curd with roti or rice
  • Moong dal khichdi
  • Fresh fruits like watermelon, papaya (ripe), and musk melon

Avoid heavy masala, too much ghee, or deep-fried items.
And yes — say no to outside food in this weather.

Dress for the Desert

  • Wear loose, breathable cotton clothes
  • Keep your underarms, lower back, and chest dry to avoid heat rashes
  • Use homemade ubtan or simple besan-sandalwood mix for a cooling bath
  • Avoid synthetics or tight-fitting clothes — they trap sweat and increase discomfort

A simple cotton dupatta over your head helps when stepping out in direct sun.

Stay Indoors During Peak Heat (12 PM–4 PM)

Even if you're just going for a scan or checkup, avoid stepping out mid-day.
Plan appointments either early morning or after 5 PM.

At Maternite Hospital, we allow flexible timing for pregnant moms during summer — just inform your doctor and adjust according to the heat.

 Rest Often, Sleep Cool

  • Take short naps through the day if night sleep is disturbed
  • Keep your feet elevated — swelling is common in the heat
  • Sleep in a well-ventilated room, preferably with a fan + cooler combo
  • Place a wet cloth on the back of your neck or feet for quick cooling

Swollen feet? Soak them in cold water with a pinch of salt for 10 minutes.
