There’s nothing more overwhelming for a new parent than a baby who keeps crying — especially when you’ve tried everything.
At Maternite Hospital, we often meet mothers who say: "Doctor, baccha feed karne ke baad bhi ro raha hai… shaayad pet mein dard hai?"
If you’ve been there — rocking, feeding, changing diapers, walking up and down the room — you’re not alone. Most babies cry. Some cry more. But once you understand why, it becomes easier to help.
Here’s what we’ve learned after caring for thousands of newborns — gentle ways to soothe your baby and ease tummy troubles.
Babies swallow air while feeding. If that air doesn’t come out, it builds pressure in the tummy and causes discomfort.
Hold baby upright, gently rub/pat the back for 2–5 mins.
Keep a cloth on your shoulder — a little milk spill is normal.
Support baby’s chin and chest, keep the back straight, and pat gently.
Place baby belly-down across your knees, support head slightly raised, and pat.
Burp every time after feeding — even at night. Especially for gassy or colicky babies.
If your baby pulls their legs up, clenches fists, or cries for no clear reason — it could be gas or colic.
Mix a pinch of hing with warm water, apply around the navel (not on it), and massage gently.
Place baby on tummy for a few minutes during the day — it helps release gas naturally.
Use a soft cloth dipped in warm water (not hot) on the baby’s tummy to relax tightness.
Lay baby on their back, move legs in slow cycling motion — helps move trapped gas.
If your baby keeps crying more than 3 hours a day, or if the tummy looks bloated and hard, consult a child stomach specialist in Jaipur to rule out other causes.
Sometimes, babies cry because they’re overstimulated — not hungry or wet. Just holding them in silence can do wonders.
At Maternite, our newborn team is trained to help parents decode baby cries — and step in early when needed.
A crying baby doesn’t mean you’re failing. It just means your baby is still learning to communicate — and your comfort matters more than you know.
We’ve stood beside tired, teary parents at 2 AM — and we always say: "Take a breath. Let us help."
That’s what makes Maternite more than a hospital. It’s a place where you’re never alone.
